Business Administrator's Office
I feel very fortunate to be working here in Northfield with our excellent Board of Education, our committed teachers, staff, other administration, and the Northfield families.
We are gearing up for a very busy year starting with a Special Bond Referendum Election on Tuesday September 30, 2014, held in the gymnasium from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
We began planning for this referendum several years back, due to the fact that the building is approaching 15 years old and our debt on the building would be paid in full in September of 2015. The passing of the referendum will still result in a tax decrease, while maintaining the investment that the residents of Northfield made 15 years ago, by upgrading and replacing critical systems approaching their useful life.
The Board of Education has received grants and debt service aid from the State of New Jersey for 42% of the cost of the planned work, which equals over 3 million dollars. This presents us with an opportunity to accomplish many necessary projects at a reduced cost to the residents.
The projects we are planning comprise security and safety upgrades to our exterior doors which include a secure keyless entry system, fire alarm and intercom systems, phone and security camera systems. Additionally, upgrades to our HVAC mechanical system, including new roof top HVAC units, as well as new roofing systems.
You can find more information about the Bond Referendum and the District Budget on our website.
